To save time we ask that athletes arrive with their swimsuits on under their clothes if possible. This will save time when we get to the facility.

I will be communicating to everyone via email and WhatsApp during the day of the application. If your athlete is riding with us, please check your emails/app to make sure you are at the SONC office at the indicated time to pick up your athlete.

For those that are driving your athlete to the facility please print out the following parking pass (TOCOME) and display it on your dashboard. Spectators (non-registered members of the delegation) will have to pay $5 per car for parking upon arrival. Once you arrive at the facility, go to the main entrance and take a left and head down the hallway. You will pass bathrooms and come to a set of stairs the lead to the seating area. Athletes will be seating in Section 4 Row K-M which is over the warm-up pool. All spectators will be sitting above the competition pool. If you have issues finding where we are sitting please call, text or WhatsApp me.

Things to Pack:

Try and pack a single bag with everything they will need. We are only going to be gone for a day so no need to pack the kitchen sink. You can also visit What to Bring to a Swim Meet for more information.

  • Swim suit (if not already wearing)
  • Goggles
  • Swim cap
  • Raleigh Racers shirt (or another shirt if they don’t have one).  You can also bring a pair of shorts if you would like (darker basketball/sports shorts work the best when wearing them over a wet suit).  Bring a small bag they can take these clothes down to staging and can have them on when they reach awards (a plastic grocery bag will be fine).
  • Deck shoes (crocks, flops, etc) – The will need something to wear to staging and to awards.
  • Towel(s)
  • Water Bottle!
  • Shower items
  • Change of clothes if not wearing the same clothes they traveled to the meet in,
  • We will have some snacks, G2 and water but feel free to pack a favorite snack.
  • Make sure the athlete brings something to do during travel and downtime (headphones, puzzles, book, games, etc)
  • Medication – If your athlete has to take medication please bring it and have it labeled for the coach. It is better if the medication is in the original bottle with the dosage and the times.

Event Information

Information about the meet can be found on the SONC Website (Should be updated with information by April 11th) under Competition and Awards, but I have put direct links to specific event information below.

Below are the events that everyone has been registered in.  Once they have been verified, SONC will create the delegation report and I will update the website with the link.

Meals:

SONC will provide lunch for delegations (registered athletes, coaches, chaperones, etc.). Family members are not included in these meals.

Lunch will consist of ham and turkey sandwiches, chips and fruit donated by Sheetz. With the exception of those who have indicated they require a Gluten Free or Vegetarian meal.

There will be water coolers and drinking fountains in the facility for refillable water bottles.

Concessions:

Concessions will be on sale starting at 10 a.m. The GAC will have hot dogs, drinks, popcorn, pretzels, etc. for sale.

Souvenirs:

Special Olympics North Carolina will also be selling SONC-themed souvenirs. A limited number of event t-shirts will be for sale.
