General Information

Transportation will not be provided to this meet. If you have issues, please contact Chris Underwood via email or phone.

Please do not arrive before 9:15 am. The aquatics pavilion doesn’t open until 9:00 am and we need a few minutes to get set up. Volunteers will be available at 9:15 am at the entrance to the aquatics pavilion to direct swimmers to the check-in area.

Heat sheet for the meet has been sent via email.  If you have been to this meet before you know that it runs pretty fast and is a great meet for the athletes to get some practice time before Summer Games.  Relays are optional depending on how we all feel toward the end of the meet.

Parking will be available for athletes, coaches, and spectators in the “Card Lot”. Card Lot is designated with a “P” on the map in the image below.

The Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion is part of the West Campus Recreation Center, which is designated on the map. Special Olympics signs will be posted along the route starting at Science Drive, directing folks where to go.

Access to the Card Lot will require a parking permit. A how to guide for everyone to access a FREE Nights and weekends parking pass was provided via email. I highly recommend that ANYONE coming to the pool download the nights and weekends pass. They will need to print it out and place it in the dash of their car. This will give them access to Card Lot parking OR blue zone parking. We will also have a volunteer stationed at the Card Lot entrance.

If they don’t want to get a parking pass or forget, there is paid visitor parking in
* Science Drive Garage
* Bryan Center

Like in past years, athletes using Duke University facilities are required to sign a Duke Aquatics Waiver. The waiver can be signed electronically and a link to the waiver is provided below. Please be sure to sign this prior to arriving as this will make it easier during check-in.

The link for the waiver is:              Smart Waiver: Duke Swim Meet: Special Olympics

Durham SO will be providing pizza and drinks for lunch.

If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
